Thank you to all who walked on June 7!
The 5th Annual Living Works Community Walk for Suicide Prevention featured Keith O'Neil, former NFL football player, as our guest speaker. Keith shared his story about dealing with mental health issues after having been recruited to play major league football.
Many thanks to Lauren and Matt Denault, who shared their thoughts with us in memory of Courtney.
See photos of this and previous walks on our Facebook photo album.
The funds we raised will allow us to offer local suicide “first aid” intervention training (see sidebar at right), and grief support to those who’ve lost loved ones to suicide. Long-range goals include attracting mental health care professionals to treat at-risk individuals locally, and educating and engaging the community in addressing reasons that drive people to consider suicide.
We've provided ASIST® intervention trainings, and in 2012 brought Jordan Burnham to IVCC to share the stirring account of how he survived his own attempted suicide, and how he went on to recovery and to assisting others. Your participation in the Walk allows us to continue these efforts. Together, we can all make a difference!
